»2019 Sony World Photography Awards«

For the fifth time, the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus celebrates one of the world’s largest and most prestigious photography competitions.
The 12th edition of the Sony World Photography Awards saw a record breaking 326,997 submissions by photographers from 195 countries and territories, presenting the world’s finest contemporary photography captured over the past year.

Nadav Kander was awarded the 2019 Outstanding Contribution to Photography. He stands apart for his versatility, strength and subtlety. Nadav Kander creates strong powerful images that have incredible scale, often showing the dominance of man over the innocence of the environment. A special selection of images by Nadav Kander will be exhibited in the Willy-Brandt-Haus, alongside the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.

The Sony World Photography Award was launched in 2007 by the World Photography Organisation (WPO) with support by the Sony Corporation. The WPO is a global platform for photography initiatives. Working across up to 180 countries, their aim is to raise the level of conversation around photography by celebrating the best imagery and photographers on the planet. The Sony World Photography Awards provide a vital insight into contemporary photography today.

Opening Reception: Thursday, Nov 14, 7:30 pm
Admission free | Photo ID required.
